Riding the Third Wave
An der Universität von Swansea findet in den nächsten Wochen eine Veranstaltungsreihe unter dem Thema Riding the Third Wave: Gender, Feminism and the New Millennium statt, “a series of workshops on gender, present and future feminisms”, organisiert vom Centre for Research into Gender in Culture and Society (GENCAS).
Aus der Beschreibung:
In recent years the imperative to offer a feminist critique of society, culture and its material productions has been subject to a backlash, in spite of a new gender studies initiative within academic circles. Indeed, there is a large consensus, especially amongst younger women, that we have now entered a ‘post-feminist’ condition – that the new millennium brought with it an era in which the ‘battles’ for female liberation and equality had been won, and the aims of the second-wave feminist movement had been achieved.
This series of workshops therefore aims to bring together leading figures within contemporary feminist and gender studies arenas to debate these issues, draw some conclusions and publish the findings.
Der erste Workshop unter dem Titel Riding the Third Wave: Recognising Difference findet am 26. Januar 2007 statt (Faraday Building, Lecture Theature J).
